Puff paint was a popular craft element when I was a kid. Cool look. Cool texture. I was excited to see a recipe for puff paint on several pinterest posts. So, I did some research of my own, combined a few recipes, and created a Puffy Polar Bear craft for the 5 Year Curriculum’s lesson on the book God Gave Us Christmas.
Begin by printing the Polar Bear printable.
Mix: 1/2 cup flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 tsp salt, water to make the mixture into a paste. Place the mixture in a ziptop bag, cutting off the corner to pipe the mixture on the polar bear.
- Use this activity with any of Lisa Tawn Bergren God Gave Us… books.
- Science: Discuss how the baking powder forms air pockets in the mixture causing it to puff up.
- Polar Bear Study
- Letter P – Puff Paint
- Paint any of the Letter Posters or Number Posters to help the child learn the formation of the letter or number.
- Add a little food coloring to the mixture and make a rainbow.
